Oberlin Girl's Soccer Club was founded in 2003 and is head coached by Mike Schmid.  The club was started by Helen Wald, who organized and petitioned for the club the preceding school year.  At the beginning of practices during the summer, the club did not even have enough players to make a team, but by the end of the summer the team had gained many new members and were ready for their season.  They started off rocky with a 0 win and 2 loss record, but the team established themselves and finished with a 5-5 record.  Due to the overwhelming popularity of the club, Oberlin Highschool created a Varsity Girl's Soccer Team.  The team gained many great new members, but in the change lost some old members.  This was due to the rules that only Oberlin Highschool members may participate.  Hopefully, these soccer players will be able to rejoin the team once they get into highschool.  The team is having a tough season so far, but everyone is coming together as a team and really showing some determination.  The team is finishing out the season with the upcoming tournament games.  The first tournament is against Open Door and if won, followed by Bay Village.
